I can't resist a costume party or a cat, love magical realism & picked my own last name! Interior Designer/Author of #HappyStartsAtHome
I am an ex-Peace Corps volunteer with degrees in Geology (yea rocks!), Community and Environmental Planning, and Interior Design. I've done everything from teaching ballroom dance (so fun!) to working at a retirement plan administration firm (OMG that nearly killed me).
Life took a sudden left turn ten years ago when my first marriage ended, and I had to come up with a new life-plan. As I made my way through that murky time I made-over the home I'd once shared with my ex, and in doing so discovered not only a talent for interior design, but also a way that I could put it to use to help people going through their own life transitions. Fast forward, and I've now spent a decade helping people build little corners of happiness in a big and scary world. I authored the design-psychology book 'Happy Starts at Home,’ and I've had the joy of speaking at Town Hall and Ignite Seattle, being seen on TV on New Day Northwest, and being featured in Bustle and Success Magazine.
In everything I do a just try to help people life a happier life. This blog follows my personal pursuit of happiness as I navigate the challenges of this complex, sometimes hard, sometimes dark world, and I hope it encourages you to find your happy place, too.
