I'm the author of 'The Last Condo Board of the Apocalypse' and nine other books, and I work in publishing. Ask me anything!

I mainly write humorous fantasy novels, but I also have a thriller series with its own conlang, which no one knows exists! I work behind the curtain in publishing, do a lot of editing and proofreading, and love to talk about narrative structure, writing arguably funny stuff, and creating characters (human and monster). I also have experience writing feature-length screenplays and other scripts, so go ahead and ask me anything...

I submitted directly to Curiosity Quills because I loved their website, their philosophy, and their remarkably clear and writer-friendly terms. Though I submitted to other houses (bypassing agents), they were my favorite. After they acquired the book, I went through the editing process and the cover creation process.

Feb 26, 9:12AM EST0
Are you working on any other writing projects presently?
Feb 25, 12:37PM EST0

Several. One is a three-act play about time-traveling lawyer cats who redress trial mistakes of the past. The second is a biopic of the Director of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation that deals almost entirely with the day he made his remarks to the Bicycle Institute of America. And the third is a dramedy about the non-human residents of a highly amenitized non-golf community.

Are there any unique or unusual habits or rituals that you include your writing process?
Feb 25, 4:54AM EST0

First I get high up in a tree, a sturdy Hemlock or Doug Fir. I put on my aviation-style headset and play my favorite soundtrack, "Mulch Grinder + Circular Saw" until I am like a nightingale with a toothache. Then I write by hand using a nomikomi-shiki pen and a college-rule notebook for exactly one hour, then repeat exactly twice and no more, until the llama is phlegmatic and the goats are placid.

Feb 24, 2:20PM EST0

I don't find it difficult to write male characters. Women are considerably more difficult to write.
